That would be so cool if bonus shorts are included.

the warner archive twitter mentioned in a reply that there was a reason this release was on dvd and not blu-ray and was explained on stu's show...anyone who caught the show hear the reason?

This post in the Stu's Show thread has the answer.

Basically, they're using interpositives for the unreleased shorts, which aren't as good as the negatives; hence, no HD release.

If the Porky shorts look as good as the B&W Popeye DVD sets from a few years back, it should be OK. That said, still disappointed in the No Blu-ray call on this.

Yeah I know how it feels for it to only be released on DVD due to the new-to-DVD titles being remastered from the more cheaper interpositives, but they will still look good in remastered quality no matter what. And besides, playing it on a Blu Ray player will make it look better.

Is there a possibility that the set will include the Daffy Duck solo b/w shorts (like "the Daffy Duckaroo" or "The Impatient Patient")? Just curious.....

I hope so, since they need to at least include the remaining non-Porky Pig B&W Looney Tunes as bonus cartoons as well (either remastered or not no matter what, although 7 have already been remastered):

Already Remastered on LT DVD and/or BR Releases - Red
Unrestored on LT DVD and/or BR Releases - Blue
Yet To Be Released Officially on LT DVD and/or BR Releases by WBHE - Black

  1. A Cartoonist's Nightmare (1935)[beans]
  2. Hollywood Capers (1935)[beans]
  3. The Phantom Ship (1936)[beans]
  4. The Fire Alarm (1936)[beans]
  5. The Haunted Mouse (1941)
  6. Joe Glow, the Firefly (1941)
  7. Saps in Chaps (1942)
  8. Daffy's Southern Exposure (1942)[daffy]
  9. Nutty News (1942)
  10. Hobby Horse-Laffs (1942)
  11. Gopher Goofy (1942)
  12. Wacky Blackout (1942)
  13. The Ducktators (1942)
  14. Eatin' on the Cuff or The Moth Who Came to Dinner (1942)
  15. The Impatient Patient (1942)[daffy]
  16. The Daffy Duckaroo (1942)[daffy]
  17. Hop and Go (1943)
  18. Tokio Jokio (1943)

You forgot Bosko and Buddy. (I kid, I kid...)

Excuse me DevonB, but the Bosko, Buddy, and B&W Merrie Melodies from 1930-1935 (from "Sinkin' in the Bathtub" to "Buddy the Gee Man") don't count since they are the pre-1935 LT and MM cartoons. The pre-1943 B&W Looney Tunes are from 1935-1943 (from "A Cartoonist's Nightmare" to "Puss n' Booty").

Kind of strange that there is just a week before the DVD is to come out and they haven't announced any of the bonus features (if there are any).

I know, but I mostly care about having the new-to-DVD titles.

This is written before the release day of Warner Archive’s DVD “Porky Pig 101”.

People of the world,
If you want more uncut & uncensored classic cartoons
(WB’s Looney Tunes & Merrie Melodies, Tom & Jerry (the cat & mouse, not the other Tom & Jerry), MGM Cartoons – especially Tex Avery’s,
Famous Studios’ Popeye color cartoons, Columbia’s Fox & Crow, etc) on Blu-ray (& DVD) via “Warner Archive” & Turner’s “TCM Vault Collection”,

Keep pre-ordering Warner Archive’s “Porky Pig 101” DVDs, & keep ordering them on the release day & the days after it!
Keep buying Warner Archive’s “Porky Pig 101” DVDs as best as you can!

And I hope the collectors will keep buying the DVD, since I actually want more classic cartoons on DVD and/or Blu Ray as well. Mainly all the Tom & Jerry cartoons, Tex Avery MGM cartoons, and the Famous Studio Popeye Technicolor cartoons.

i believe the bonus features might just be limited to commentaries, but if there is anything else, why spoil it? it'd be a nice surprise

True, since they did do this before on previous Looney Tunes DVD and Blu Ray releases. Including on the cartoon's original opening and closing titles which came out of nowhere.

Having not ordered from WB Shop before, roughly when does one get notice that their order shipped? It's less than a week until its release date and I still haven't heard anything about my pre-order.

I thought September 19th was when we would receive the DVD in the mail.

The order receipt email I received from WB Shop states "Pre-ordered today for shipment on 09/19/2017."
