For those that don't know, David Shepard who had been running Blackhawk Films these last several years passed away from a terminal illness. The Blackhawk Films library includes the Ub Iwerks cartoons and some of the Van Beuren stuff. Thunderbean in the past had deals to get that stuff out there and they did with Willie Whooper, but now that Shepard is gone, is this going to be an issue????

Many condolences to the family and friends of Davis Shepard

Sorry to here about Shepard. I'm guessing Steve will talk about the situation on Cartoon Research tomorrow.

Thanks for the concern- the agreements we have with Blackhawk/ Film Preservation Associates/ David Shepard are in fine shape. David made sure these agreements would be safe and the sets would continue. Serge Bromberg is David's business associate and will be helping us continue the work with UCLA and the Academy on the Comi Color set, Flip and the Rainbow Parades.

David was a wonderful, amazing person- I was happy to form a friendship with him as we worked on these sets. He really cared about making sure the films in the Blackhawk Collection found a new audience and were seen by old friends as well. I can't stress enough how is commitment has everything to do with why so many films are still around with their best material still intact. I'm missing him already.
