Some titles I can identify as genuine, like We Aim to Please, Protek the Weakerist and Leave Well Enough Alone.

Actually, "Protek the Weakerst" originally had a byline in the Paramount logo. The DVD does not.

How I wish Sony Pictures Animation would already finish and confirm the release of their upcoming CGI Popeye movie, just so WB will already get to work on remastering the remaining Popeye cartoons from the 40's and 50's I want on DVD or Blu Ray so bad.

[popeye] "Hey Sony, get me movie done already! I want me fans to see me in the cinemas again!"

Examining some non-Turner prints, it seems like Spinach Overture in the DVD has the incorrect Paramount logo at the end

9.5mm print on YouTube:
Original end titles

DVD:
End titles on DVD

It could be possibly the same on other early 1934-1936 B&W Popeyes aswell.

I am confused if whether or not the titles for "Adventures of Popeye" are genuine, because it has a strange set of end titles (the Paramount logo first, then fade to the anchor).

You know, not only WB does incorrect presentations on the B&W Popeye cartoons, even Disney did the same thing with their B&W Mickey cartoons on the Treasure sets by making their own recreated titles.

Yeah, some of the Columbia-era shorts used the title music from Mickey's Nightmare in place of their original title cues. I remember seeing a 35mm print of The Gorilla Mystery, with burlap/music titles that had the original music on it.

The title music for Puppy Love also had stock music over it, but when I saw a 35mm print of that with burlap titles, they were actually silent, and the music cut off when they appeared. Weird, huh?

The Steeplechase had the mid-1940s Donald Duck theme play over it!

But didn't some have no music at all on the DVDs? They'd say something like "Music not found".

BTW, I've noticed differences between two Mickey Mouse in BW DVDs! The originals have an Alphabetical listing option, but the newer Italian DVDs just have the Chronological listings; they're also missing the menu music for some reason.

I'm In The Army Now's titles were recreated

Original vs recreation

Probably the same with Protek the Weakerist as well considering how it doesn't have the steroptical patent titles.

Cleverly unnoticeable, but there are some positional differences. Look around the letters "w" and the phrase "in" and you'll see what I mean.

It's even worse with The Paneless Window Washer. The opening timing of the shipdoor titles are completely wrong and so are the door parts.

In addition, I binge watched a lot of the 1935-1936 cartoons on the DVD and suspected a handful of titles were recreated.

And the credits for "The Organ Grinder's Swing" were ripped from "The Paneless Window Washer".

It's funny, because if they started on the Mickey Mouse daily strips sooner, they'd find out that Fiddling Around is the real title, as one of the special features in the first Volume even mentions it!

But I think there was a movie poster from when the film was released and it said "Just Mickey".

Edit: Okay, I did a Google search and found a stock poster for "Fiddlin' Around". I could've swore I saw a full poster of "Just Mickey" in the 1993 Disney poster book. I got to find my pocket sized version.

On another note: Why did Turner cut off the opening music in Bulldozing the Bull and Hello, How Am I?
Bobby Bickert

The aap print of "Bulldozing the Bull" cut off a big chunk of the main title footage; the aap logo stays onscreen longer than usual, then cuts to the main title just shortly before the titles fade and the ship doors open. (This also happens with the aap prints of "Big Chief Ugh-Amugh-Ugh" and "The Hyp-Nut-Tist", but WB must have had access to the original negatives for both of those.) I would assume the same thing happened with the aap print of "Hello How Am I".

(I remember someone on GAC forums said that a gradeschooler could have done a better job with the opening titles of some of the cartoons on the Popeye Volume 2 DVD set.)

It's The Natural Thing To Do has the same case, but it was based off an original titles print. Which is a weird case to me because means to me that it sounds like the cartoon was copied off a bad negative, or a backup print that had major splices at the beginning. They're pretty much noticeable, no start-of-film cue and no pause between the pipe sounds in the intro. Other than that, there doesn't look to be any more splices throughout the restored print.
