The cartoons that seem to be added to the IAD all have theatrical, television, and video releases. However, with the rise of animation being published on YouTube and other websites, I was wondering if it would be appropriate to add cartoons released online to the database.

The internet does have a lot of cartoons made by amateurs and hobbyists. Should we just limit professionally made internet animations to the database?

It's rather a good idea. One of the other directions I want to take this is to add commercials to the database, but I'm still working on that.

But I'm a little of two minds. There's a lot of good stuff done my amateurs out there that should be showcased. (In fact, that was one of the things I was dreaming of when I started this.) There's also a lot of dreck and I wouldn't want to see the good stuff lost under the pile of dreck.

You mean like Homestar?

^ Homestar is well-known, so maybe we can start by adding cartoons by well-known online animators (such as Harry Partridge, Ukinojo, Egoraptor, Hotdiggedydemon, and Channel Frederator).

Kinda off topic, but why go for modern, as in today's new toon's, when there is lots of additional information yet to be added on the older years by various formats! Some of those older formats have not been PC edited! And yes there is ways of capturing them and convert to another format! I'm not against those wishing to add this new stuff, but we need more that looks to the past.

Well, there's no reason why we can't do both. That was one of the goals I had for the site was to showcase animation in ALL it's forms, not just "classic" works. There are enough sites that focus on specific eras.

So, researchers ... go ahead and start posting internet animation on the site, but for the time being let's keep it confined to established studios and well-known online animators.

I've added Cartoon Hangover's Bee and PuppyCat series.
