I'm really glad people like the set- I love seeing how great so many of these films look... it's great that they're getting seen as they should!

I've been debating another, but it's just a debate. Willie is several days from being a finished master here- the Snafu set hit a major setback with the lab DVNRing my transfers without me asking for it, erasing hands and feet and all sorts of things! Those few are being redone, and even though they look stunning, we *have* to get them right for the set.

DVNR in a Steve Stanchfield DVD? That would be like Hannibal Lecter in a vegetarian shop!

Why anyone would even consider using DNR at this point is beyond me. The fact that the lab in question tried to apply it to cartoons on a Thunderbean release (of all releases!) is particularly ridiculous.

My reaction to this horrible mistake the lab done......

Its not their call! Why would that even happen? They should do free work for you on something for that!

It happens...heck, I'm just another producer like so many as far as a lab is concerned- though these particular folks really do care about the work they're turning out. The owner of the lab personally called me and said they'd fix it- happy to have them do so too! The actual transfers are really beautiful. Here is what is in progress today:

Sorry to hear about the lab messing up your Snafu transfers, Steve. Take your time fixing them, pretty sure we can all wait if it means getting a better final product. Still awaiting my copy of "We're on our way to IB Tech" but I'm just going to say now I'm grateful for everything you put onto these special discs.

Also, those bonus features look really cool, super-hyped for the Willie set 🙂

So. folks have been writing me and suggesting another one of these things. I've had a few thoughts on this and a couple possibilities. If we did another, what one would be preferred?

1) An animated IB Technicolor Feature, unaltered. This would be from a 60s 35mm IB Technicolor print of a classic animated feature. Bonuses would be a bunch of IB Technicolor educational shorts featuring one of the main characters in this film (I recently managed to get both series in all IB prints).

2) Noveltoons -HD sneak preview set! This is *possibly* in progress already, though no official set date has been made. The thought here is 2 volumes of Novletoons, with perhaps the new set in HD out first.

3)Part 2 of an almost all IB Technicolor set of cartoons... the variety pack.

Thoughts?

You're planning an official HD Noveltoons set!?

Count me in!

That one gets my vote - I love the surprises your miscellaneous collections always hold. Of course, I wouldn't say no to the other two discs either!

Mystery animated feature it is (for me)............

Can't you just wait for a possible sublicense for the Noveltoons 2 set?

Well, I'm down for all three. Must we choose?

I think option 1 gets my vote, if only because, as fun as option 2 sounds, I can probably wait for an official set. Option 3 is a close second, though.

Received my set on Thursday also. Wow, the condition of those Popeye prints is wonderful! I only spotted a single minor splice within each one, other than where the prints begin/end, and wear is minimal. Stuff for a film collector to be proud of. Well worth the 20 bucks for those two transfers alone. All the other stuff is, of course, great to have as well. The Pink Phink does looks great; too bad the color has faded, though the color correction here is decent enough. Cool that the transfer of the Opening Night print was left in color instead of converting it to greyscale. Another great set! My only niggle is over the digital fade-ins/outs applied to the beginning/end of the Rio and Opening Night transfers. I'd much rather see the film prints in their entirety, without such alterations. But I'm very happy to have those transfers nevertheless.

As for which set to do next, all three choices are desirable (an unaltered animated feature? Ooooh, Noveltoons?), though I am pretty fond of the usual shorts package, so I'm thinking option 3 is what I'd pick. I would only be okay with option 1 if it were to actually be an IAD-exclusive offer this time, by the way.

I watched a few more of the shorts last night (still not fully done). Once again, you did a great job on this set. It's just a shame that Sheep in the Deep didn't have the opening WB logo.

As for the next exclusive set, (if you do choose to go through with it) I would love for you to try something different, so the animated feature gets my vote.

Could you give us more details about the Noveltoons please ?[buzzy]

It still amazes me that DNR is ever applied on the fly during transfer. It can always be applied later if that's what they want, but transfer is the only chance to have a pure copy of what's exactly on the print.

Nice job with this set! Opening Night looked gorgeous, as did the two Famous Popeyes.
I think I have a whole new appreciation for Rio, now that I've seen how truly vibrant the color styling is in that cartoon.

Wow! Great to be back. I had password issues that kept me out of these forums for quite awhile. A big "thank you" to Patrick for helping me get back in!

Also, a thank you to Steve, who stayed in touch via email and made sure I got my IB Technicolor set. I have to say it's right up there with the very best of the Thunderbean releases both authorized and "collector-to-collector" (nudge, nudge).

The variety was perfect and the prints themselves were beautiful!

I would vote for both a Noveltoons set (can't have too many of those) and another IB Technicolor set!

This is the difference folks between Steve and major company a major company would let DVNR slide.

Can we get more clues about option 1 ?

I'm in for all of this, but #2 is probably the one I'll regret the less if it's not chosen.
