My thoughts.......
Enjoyed "Jungle Jive" or whatever it's called. I remember seeing in B&W, now I can see a Technicolor print and I like the boogie woogie interlude in the middle.
"The Pink Phink" looks amazing and best of all, no Leo the Lion roaring at the end. Was tacking on the MGM lion really necessary to the official Pink Panther collections (on every single cartoon no less)? I remember seeing a United Artists logo at the beginning of a Pink Panther cartoons when it was on Cartoon Network (probably a "Toon Extra") but that was when I was 5 (maybe 4 1/2) so I barley remember.
The 35mm Popeyes were AMAZING! The Turner prints of "We're on our Way To Rio" look faded (The red prints Turner and its previous TV owners had always showed the steed dark brown instead of light brown with some of the Superman-style shading lost.) In fact the colors looked awful on those aap prints. Thankfully the $1,000 was worth it, and Warner Bros. has no financial incentive to restore Famous Popeye. That and the family division is now super sensitive about cartoons such as "Spinach vs. Hamburgers", "Popeye's Pappy" and of course, "Pop-Pie A La Mode". The other Technicolor Popeye I'm blown away with is "Insect to Injury". Good audio, and the saturation makes the termites look more like Katnip. (Same credited director as most of H&K's). For "We're on our way to rio" again, I like the bright orange sky on the Paramount logos.
Great collection Steve! You topped yourself from last time. Nobody wants prints of "The Crunch Bird", no matter how sad the death of Ted Petok is, or how great the Oscar win was. I'm also sure Disney will remaster the "Schoolhouse Rock" songs for Blu-ray someday, so unless you have a broadcast print of "I'm Just a Bill" that isn't used for schools, I think it was somewhat of a weird choice. Great song, weird choice for "All Sorts of Cartoon Shorts".....
