Synopsis

A pony named Twilight Sparkle discovers that Nightmare Moon is set to return on the 1,000th anniversary of her imprisonment in the moon. Trying to warn her teacher and ruler of Equestria, Princess Celestia, she instead sends Twilight to oversee preparations for the Summer Sun Celebration in Ponyville where she also has another task to complete; to make some friends.
